Sukkot
- Succos
In
the Torah, it is written:
Speak
unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh
month shall be the feast of tabernacles (Chag ha’Sukkot) for seven days
unto the L-rd.
[Leviticus
(Vayikra) 23:34]
Sukkot
is a holiday rich in tradition and meaning. From the holding of the lulav
and etrog to sitting in a Sukkah, the holiday is filled with symbolism
to express the L-rd's relationship with us and our worship of Him.
We seek to dwell with the L-rd forever and ever. Sukkot is a time of
dwelling with the L-rd, a spiritual service of worship. This is a
time of encouragement as we remember that the L-rd is our true
shelter. He is our supply and our salvation.
Sukkot
comes just five short days following Yom Kippur. The timing is not
accidental. Only when we understand that Yeshua (G-d in man) was the
Sacrifice Lamb, an atonement
on Yom Kippur, can we then be truly joyous on Sukkot. There is a
special Mitzvah of Simcha, happiness, on Sukkot.
In
the Torah, it is written:
But
on the fifteenth day of the Seventh Month, when you harvest the produce of
the Land, celebrate the Holiday of Hashem for seven days... You shall stay
in "Sukkot" for seven days; every resident of Israel shall stay
in "Sukkot." In order that your generations shall know that I
housed the Children of Israel in "Sukkot" when I took them out
of the Land of Egypt. [Leviticus
(Vayikra) 39:42-43]
Several
of our affiliated ministries are actively involved in celebration the
Feast of Sukkot. For example,
one is BETH EL
SHADDAI Messianic Synagogue, 3921 Parkwood Road, Bessemer Al 35022,
205-424-8865. Many
of the members of this congregation camp out in the rear lot of the
synagogue during Sukkot. They
have studies in the Word, prayer and worship each day and evening. They
eat together and live together in booths ( a temporary dwelling place).
Please
look at the list of affiliated ministries for further information about
their Chag Sukkot gatherings.

ICEJ
Special Report – Saturday, 3 October 2009
Greeting
from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
To the 30th annual Feast of Tabernacles
Sponsored by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem
Ladies
and Gentlemen, delegates from around the world… Welcome all of you to
Jerusalem, the eternal, undivided capital of Israel and the Jewish people.
Last
week I spoke at the UN. I spoke about many things, but I really spoke about
one thing – moral clarity. I asked people to take a clear stand; a clear
stand against or for the denial of the Holocaust. Against or for a person who
promises to wipe out the Jewish state. Against or for the terrorists, the
terrorists who hide behind civilians, while firing on civilians. Against or
for a democratic state of Israel that defends itself as any country would and
in fact, sets a standard for fighting terrorists in a clean, legitimate way.
I
asked people to take all those stands. And I said also to take a stand for
us, for all of us. Take a stand for the rights of the Jewish people to a
state of their own in their ancestral homeland, Israel – the land of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That’s what I asked people to do in the UN. Which
is not easy to do in the UN. Because sometimes the simplest things become
obfuscated and what is a clear moral case or a clear fact becomes befuddled
and sometimes things are turned on their head — truth is turned on its head
and morality is turned on its head.
But
that is not the case with the people who are now assembled in this hall. You
have crystal clear answers that are based on justice and based on truth. And
that’s been the case for many, many decades. Thirty years ago, you decided
to form the Christian Embassy in Israel. Why? Because all the other embassies
were leaving Jerusalem. And that’s when this act, this statement of truth
and justice was made.
And
ever since you have been with us in the streets of Jerusalem. In the worst of
times, you’ve always stood up for Israel. And you’ve communicated
something very clear to us. You said to the people of Israel, “You are not
alone. We are with you.”
Well,
we say to you today, the people of Israel are with you. We’re together. And
we’re together in a great, great adventure that stretches back thousands of
years. The dreams and prayers of the Jewish people to come back to this land.
To re-establish our life here in a free, independent Jewish state with a
united Jerusalem as our capital. I know you share this vision. I know the
strength of your faith. And G-d willing with our common efforts, and our
great friendship we shall explain and make clear to all of mankind, even to
the United Nations, that we’re here to stay.
Thank
you and G-d bless you.
Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
International
Christian Embassy Jerusalem - Special Report
Be
blessed, be healthy, be safe. Be
found in Yeshua. (Ref: Phil. 3:7-11)
"Do
not let your heart be troubled; believe in G-d, believe also in Me.
"In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were
not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
"If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
"And you know the way where I am going."
[John 14:1-5 NASU]
But
we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so
that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For
if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so G-d will bring with Him
those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For
this we say to you by the word of the L-rd, that we who are alive and remain
until the coming of the L-rd, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For
the L-rd Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet of G-d, and the dead in Christ will rise
first. Then we who are alive and
remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the L-rd in
the air, and so we shall always be with the L-rd. Therefore
comfort one another with these words.
[1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NASU]
Then
I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the
living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of
myriads, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
"Worthy
is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing."
And
every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth
and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,
"To
Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory
and dominion forever and ever."
And
the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen." And the elders fell
down and worshiped.
[Revelation (Hitzion – Hebrew & Apokalupsis -
Greek) 5:11-14 NASU]
The
L-rd is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green
pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
his name's sake. Yea, though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou
art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou
anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and
I will dwell in the house of the L-rd for ever.
[Psalms
(Tehillim) 23 KJV]
To
all a Chag Semaich Sukkot
The
L-RD bless you, and watch over you; The L-RD make His face
shine on you, And be gracious to you; The L-RD lift up His
countenance on you, And give you peace.
[NASU Numbers
6:24-26]
Shalom
